WHAT IS CASTOR OIL?
Castor Oil comes from the seeds of the Castor Bean Plant (Ricinus communis), a powerful medicinal plant that has been used for thousands of years in traditional healing practices. Castor beans have been discovered at ancient sacred sites and within Egyptian tombs, offering a glimpse into just how long this plant has been valued for its healing properties.
One of the most unique components of Castor Oil is Ricinoleic Acid, a fatty acid compound that makes up the majority of the oil and is largely responsible for its remarkable therapeutic benefits. Ricinoleic Acid has been studied for its anti-inflammatory, soothing, and circulation-supporting effects and isn’t found in many other plants. When applied to the skin, Castor Oil is believed to penetrate deeply into the tissues, where its unique properties can support the body's natural processes of circulation, elimination, and detoxification. Castor Oil is such a treasured medicine in herbal traditions, and sometimes referred to as “Grandma Medicine” because it has been used for many generations in healing.

Castor oil compresses can be incorporated into your regular self-care practice as often as feels supportive for your body.
Kayla loves using a compress 1–2 nights per week as a gentle, ongoing ritual. For those who enjoy working with the menstrual cycle, try using your compress for 3 consecutive nights leading up to your period as a way to support the body’s natural processes of circulation and detoxification during cyclical transitions.
There is no need to overdo it, consistency and intention are more important than frequency. Listen to your body and find the rhythm that feels best for you.
Discard and replace your compress if your wrap becomes overly saturated (typically about every 2-3 months)
HOW TO USE A CASTOR OIL COMPRESS
Step 1.
Unwrap your compress and lay it on a flat surface with the cotton flannel side facing up. Pour about 2 tablespoons of Castor Oil to the center of your compress.
After the first 3 uses, reduce the amount of Castor Oil to about 1 tablespoon.
STEP 2.
Apply the compress to the right side of your abdomen for liver support, or the center of your abdomen for digestive or reproductive support. Secure the elastic straps comfortably around the abdomen by wrapping once around your body and tying them off on top of the compress.
Please Note: the model is wearing pants in this photo, but we do recommend allowing the entire compress to come into full contact with your skin.
STEP 3.
Wear your Castor Oil Compress overnight while sleeping for best results, or 4 hours at minimum. Herbal medicine requires time and patience!
We recommend wearing black clothing, or old t-shirt while wearing your compress to avoid staining gentle materials. Castor oil is powerful and does not wash out so please use mindfully!
